The birth of the Art Catwalk

Kunst in de Kas in the Netherlands pioneered a truly unique concept: the Art Catwalk — the world’s first art show on a red carpet. This groundbreaking premiere placed artists centre stage in an entirely new way.

No fewer than 26 artists, dressed strikingly in black and white, presented their work while walking the red carpet. On stage, each artist personally introduced and explained their creations, transforming the traditional exhibition format into a dynamic and theatrical experience.

It feels more than coincidental that the paths of the Knysna Arts Society (KAS) and Kunst in de Kas have now converged — two creative forces meeting at a moment when innovation in the arts is ready to take centre stage.
