Collection: The Shift (revisited)
The Shift (revisited) captures the interplay between light and dark, the tension between elevation and gravitational pull, and the presence of order within decay. Through a lens that both distorts and reveals the mystical underlying structures of land and seascapes, I seek to express the quiet drama that can be intensified through the lightbox medium.
I revisited the inspiration photos I took during a road trip to the Richterveld: the harsh, dramatic and ancient desert landscape, defined by jagged volcanic rock formations, stirred a visual language within me once again. The stark beauty, arid biodiversity, and iconic rugged peaks, strangely, became the habitat of the Nama folk, a culture that speaks of sustainable pastoralism.
A place that suggests timelessness, with a sublime presence that remains an ongoing reference point and inspiration for my creative process.
